A first place in the London International String Competition in 1994, three years later the Norwegian Criticism Prize for Music and an Editor's Choice nomination in Gramophone... The Oslo String Quartet has built up a fine track record. Following performances in prestigious chamber music halls such as the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Wigmore Hall in London, a concert in Belgium was inevitable. Their extensive discography shows a distinct love for Scandinavian quartet music. With the quartet 'Voces Intimae' by Jean Sibelius, the Oslo String Quartet takes us to Finland. We are also introduced to the 'Italian Serenade' by Hugo Wolf, a virtuoso work for string quartet, better known in the version for string orchestra adapted by Max Reger. The crowning achievement will be Béla Bartók's fifth string quartet, one of the most impressive creations in the genre and a highlight after Beethoven.
