Night of the Gypsies: Kocani Orkestar

With their new, expanded line-up, the mighty Macedonian brass band Kocani Orkestar is bigger than ever on stage. Concert after concert they get the audience dancing until the last man and that will certainly be no different at the annual 'Night of the Gypsies' of the Handelsbeurs. Their music is based on gypsy sounds from all over the Balkans, on Turkish and Bulgarian rhythms and even contains a hint of Latin. The thundering style, with powerful rhythm section and passionate soloists has become the trademark of the Kocani Orkestar. They count artists such as Cibelle, Beirut and Balkan Beat Box among their fans and their songs have been remixed by DJs all over the world, including Buscemi.
