Moskus / Black Flower

The previous appearance of Norwegian trio Moskus left a lasting impression. The trio featuring pianist Anja Lauvdal is now introducing a second album. Black Flower is one of the most lavish projects run by multi-instrumentalist Nathan Daems. An exciting mix of afrobeat, funk, soul and jazz full of memo-rable melodies, brooding excesses and catchy tunes.

MOSKUS

The young men of Moskus met each other at the renowned conservatory in Trondheim. There, a new generation of artists replaced rigid Norwegian academicism by boundless personal creativity. Moskus is a breath of fresh air for the trio format, combining burly adventure and fragile restraint.

BLACK FLOWER

Ardent followers of Belgian jazz could have predicted Black Flower’s success. After all, Daems has been working on his oeuvre—a motley patchwork that includes modern jazz (with his regular quintet), gypsy music and Indian traditional (Ragini Trio)—for years. Again and again, he turns his projects into an in-depth study that goes much further than a fleeting dalliance.
