A young man of 24 with a fragile voice, a guitar, melodies that give you chills and lyrics about universal soul stirrings. Milow's music is an assault on the mind. But then an attack in style. The music remains very simple and that is partly the merit of producer Nigel Powell, known as a former member of The Unbelievable Truth and producer of Radiohead's first single. Anyone who has ever read Goethe's “The Suffering of Young Werther” has a fairly accurate idea of ​​the atmosphere in the music of Geert Maris, alias Nona Mez. His songs express melancholy, drama and an occasional hint of despair. Yet the songs radiate a heart-warming glow through Maris' soothing voice and the subtle accents of piano, guitar or drums. Just like Goethe, Nona Mez evokes a wonderful euphoria through so much sad beauty. Maris was influenced by his great role models, Leonard Cohen, Ani DiFranco and Ryan Adams. Because he wants to appeal to a broad audience, he has evolved over the years towards more accessible music. On his third album “Out of Touch” he is assisted by musicians from Zornik and Zita Swoon. Anton Walgrave caresses, moves, surprises, rocks, experiments and does it all with equal measure. flair. This singer-songwriter is in search of the essence of music and picks up influences from a wide variety of genres such as pop, blues, soul, jazz, funk and even folk. The result is versatile, transgressive music that cannot be pigeonholed into one box. This is also proven by the endless list of 'similar artists' such as Ryan Adams, David Gray, Ben Christophers, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, ... They can all be recognized somewhere in the music, but none of them completely covers the Walgrave brand. And how could it be otherwise, the man decided at the age of five that he would become a singer. Four years later he put his words into action when he recorded his first demo cassette at the age of nine. To make his career a success story, he always surrounds himself with big names from the music world. His first solo album, “The Hum”, was produced by Kevin Armstrong, who previously collaborated with David Bowie and Iggy Pop. Buscemi drummer Luuk Cox provided the contemporary sound of the second album, “Before the Dawn”. De Mens frontman Frank Vander Linden was roped in as producer for the third CD.
