Colombian Marta Gomez is one of the most intriguing singer-songwriters in contemporary world music. Her repertoire consists of original compositions, based on a fascinating mix of rhythms from Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Argentina. Her songs combine the joy of the Caribbean, the nostalgia of the Andes and many jazz influences into a universal sound with which she touches listeners across language boundaries. Together with her band (flute, piano, percussion and bass), Marta Gomez brings the Latin American sun to Ghent in January.
