Mark Olson

Olson is one of the great innovators of American roots music and can now count himself among the top ten 'Americana' singer-songwriters. After leaving his band The Jayhawks in 1996, he married singer-songwriter Victoria Williams and formed The Creekdippers with her. Even in his most optimistic songs, Mark Olson sounds as if he could burst into tears. His sharp, broken voice gives the intimate lyrics extra weight. He was inspired early on by folky musicians such as Dave Van Ronk, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. When his marriage ended in 2005, Olson shrouded himself in silence. Until now. This year, Mark Olson released his first solo album, 'The Salvation Blues'. A bloody honest goosebumps album that really comes into its own live.
