María José Franco

Flamenco connoisseurs immediately jump upright when they hear the name María José Franco. She took her first dance steps at the age of five and apprenticed with the best in the business. She won a place with the Compañia Andaluza de Danza and soon became a soloist of the dance company. She also appeared on the bill of numerous festivals with her own company. One of her previous programs, 'Cabales', was a unique tribute to the flamenco 'Puro, Jondo', free of all frills. A quest she describes as a rapprochement with 'true flamenco'. María José Franco masters the style down to the smallest detail and dances with stunning grace and perfection.
