With his contemporary way of touching on deep human issues, social problems and even nature, Luka Bloom is an Irish singer-songwriter through and through. His new album ‘This New Morning’, which he will present in the Handelsbeurs, is further proof of his status as one of the best songsmiths of all time.
Bloom’s subtle arrangements serve as a perfect catalyst for the power of his words and nothing ever feels forced. No wonder then that he has earned an excellent live reputation – something he has proven time and time again at the Handelsbeurs.
Bloom’s real name is Barry Moore, descendant of a musical family. His artistic name is a mixture of the song Luka by Suzanne Vega and the Bloom character from Joyce’s literary masterpiece Ulysses. Irish music magazine Vulgo wrote: “'This New Morning' is a treasure: beautifully sung, played and produced. It’s blooming great.”
