This show takes place in Dutch.

Let’s Be Real is voor iedereen die nieuwsgierig is naar de impact van sociale media – voor wie zichzelf soms zoekt, soms verliest en soms onverwacht terugvindt.

Master of your own world – both online and offline

Who am I? In a world where social media and AI are increasingly determining the answer to that question, we are inundated with perfect images – snapshots sent by algorithms that encourage us to think and act in a certain way. But who is hiding behind the curtain of likes, filters and followers?

Let's Be Real is a technological performance that blends electronic beats, pop and contemporary classical music to question our (online) identity. How does this stream of illusions affect our self-image? What can we learn from living online? And can the virtual world paradoxically bring us closer together?

Soprano Esther-Elisabeth Rispens and percussionist Wim Pelgrims — together known as Goggles — will guide the audience through a labyrinth of screens, with AI acting as a third musical character. With a composition and direction by Jonathan Bonny and visuals by Jonas Beerts, this performance asks provocative questions about our true 'self' in the digital universe.
