Leipziger Streichquartett + Tal & Groethuysen

FIN DU SIÈCLE

Arrangements of compositions by contemporaries and the composers themselves were very common in Mendelssohn's time. Transcriptions for small ensembles were often the only opportunity to get to know new compositions. Not everyone (except Mendelssohn!) had an orchestra at hand to listen to a symphony, not everyone could be present in the concert hall to become acquainted with new music.

Leipziger Streichquartett: Stefan Arzberger (violin), Tilman Büning (violin), Ivo Bauer (viola), Matthias Moosdorf (cello)
