This concert takes place in S.M.A.K. - Jan Hoetplein 1, 9000 Ghent
Every first Thursday of the month, Ha Concerts and S.M.A.K. join forces for the “Late Thursday” series. The museum stays open until 10 p.m., with a free acoustic concert in the entrance hall. Contemporary art and stimulating music come together in an intimate but unique atmosphere.
Since childhood, the band formed around the Pinoy brothers has made sound their playground. In their releases (five to date), they have consistently created an engaging universe of cinematic avant-pop. What is striking is the delicate balance between a contemporary experimental notion of sound and an accessible directness.
During Museum Night, amid all the other activities, they will dive into a free improvisation lasting no less than six hours, from opening to closing time.
'Free improvisation à la Peenoise' is something they have developed with their trusted live band in recent years in dark bars in Ghent. In such sessions, they really explore the limits of imagination, which unfolds in an unpredictable combination of humor, melancholy, nightmares, and euphoria.
For fans of The Notwist, David Byrne, or the nightmares of David Lynch.
