We live in a world full of sound, ranging from the whisper-soft to the deafening. Yet we rarely consider its impact. Sound affects us subconsciously: what we hear and how we listen influences our body, thinking, emotions, psyche and well-being. Although we all have the ability to listen, we often forget how valuable it is to listen properly.
La Floresta invites you to pause and open your ears to the sounds that we would normally pass by. Prepare to be amazed during a silent preparatory walk and a special sound concert in nature.
La Floresta is an invitation to slow down, connect with others and experience life more consciously. It is a collective journey towards building a more caring relationship with the world we live in.

La Floresta
Berlinde Deman (serpent), Nathan Daems (tenor sax, kaval & ney) and Hans Beckers (guitar, clarinet, objects, sound sculptures +production, concept and installation, composition and performance), Gregor Van Mulders (engineering), Danny Vandeput (metalwork)
With La Floresta, Hans Beckers created a robot-like “beast” full of shells, leaves and seed pods that wriggle through the air like snakes. Rustling, jingling and whispering, like a primeval forest.
Opposite them are musicians with synthesizers and drum computers, soundscapes and samples. Everything moves and interacts with each other. Prick up your ears.
In co-production with Concertgebouw Brugge, Klarafestival, Werkplaats Walter, STUK, Zonzo Compagnie and iii (instrument inventors initiative). With thanks to Roskot workshop / Les Ateliers Claus. With the support of the Flemish Government
