Kurt Vile and the Violators

NIGHT VIBES ON A NEW RECORD

Kurt Vile already made two instant classics with Smoke Ring For My Halo and Wakin on a Pretty Daze. Songs like 'Baby's Arms' and 'Wakin on a Pretty Day' have forever enshrined themselves in the collective memory. Long-drawn-out, dreamy rock, described by Humo as 'a fresh mixture of sleepy folk jams, classic singer-songwriter pop and powerful fuzz rock'. The atmosphere of The War on Drugs, aka Vile's ex-band, is never far away.

His latest album Pretty Pimpin was recently released, recorded with producer Rob Scnapf behind the buttons ( see, among others, Beck's Mellow Gold and Elliott Smith's Either/Or). The album, with songs like 'Pretty Pimpin' (recently played live at StuBru) and 'Life Like This', sounds a bit more intimate and smaller. Kurt Vile himself said the following in Rolling Stone: 'It's definitely got that night vibe, it's my sequel to Donald Fagen's The Nightfly.'

Live, Kurt Vile is assisted by his inseparable backing band The Violators.
