Kraakpand #7 met o.a. Asimov & Sticky Monster

In recent years, many big names have taken the stage at the Handelsbeurs. They have one thing in common: they started small. 'Kraakpand' opens the Ha' stage once a month to promising musicians.

Darling Britney

Darling Britney describes himself as “a collective that surfs the border between spoken word, punk rock and homesickness. Rhythmic prose and tight, lived rhythms come together synergistically at the bottom of the song of life.” At the bottom of that song of life, there are beautiful guitar violence, wild drums, funny Dutch lyrics, a beautiful voice and a sexy rolling “r”. Darling Britney's first demo CD, “Ich bin Bobby…” was recently released. The six songs sound very good, but this music is made for live shows.

Asimov

Asimov is a textbook example of a group that will come slowly but surely. They have been working hard since 2000. In 2005 they released their self-titled debut. It seems as if the group is stealing media such as Studio Brussels, TMF and regional radio stations. In recent years they have played at numerous festivals and clubs across the country.

It is certain that Asimov will one day grow beyond our national borders. Their music is bursting with class and quality. Comparisons with the Foo Fighters, The Pixies and national heroes such as Dildo Warheads pop up here and there. The songs sound simple and go straight to their target. Wonderful power rock!

The third group will not - as previously announced - be HongKongDollar, but it will be...

Sticky Monster

Sticky Monster is the synergy of the Ghent bands Mad Dog Loose, No Tomorrow Charlie, The Whodads and Plastic Fish Factory. A band that gets the best out of four groups does have some baggage in its back pocket. Sticky Monster pumps all that experience into what they call “great and unfriendly pop songs arranged with drunken guitars and power drums, sweet & noisy.” This chaotic foursome will musically shake you up, drain your excess energy and send you home reborn!
