Kraakpand 6.1 met oa. Gregory Page & Russian Red

The ingredients of Kraakpand are as usual: five bands, the most diverse music genres, an exciting interaction between the groups, an impressive setup in the hall and Dirk Blanchart, who hosts the show. From 8 pm DJ Sir Sourire will create the atmosphere, after the show the party will continue in the foyer.

GABBY YOUNG & OTHER ANIMALS (UK) | folk rock / swing

For Gabby Young's live following, most independent singers would give a lung. Her vibrant reputation continues to haunt her and earns her one concert booking after another. Gabby Young and Other Animals are an eccentric eight-piece formation that brings together gypsy, folk, rock and jazz. Gabby Young graduated as an opera singer and plays a wide range of instruments, such as the trumpet, trombone, piano and clarinet.

RUSSIAN RED (SP) | acoustic / folk

After a successful tour in 2008-2009, followed by a year of no wind, Russian Red is back with their second album. She quickly became one of Spain's greatest artists. Singer Lourdes Hernández has an exceptional voice and a natural flair, which allows her to quickly connect with her audience. Her second album, 'Fuerteventura', was released in the spring of 2011, produced by Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, David Byrne, Mogwai).

DEPEDRO (SP) | folk rock / latin Depedro (a.k.a Jairo Zavala) already played at the Handelsbeurs as a special guest of Amparo Sanchez. His debut album 'DePedro' was released in 2009 by PIAS, with immediate strong airplay on Radio 1. The record was produced by Joey Burns and John Convertino from Calexico, and they also played on this beautiful debut album. Jairo himself is a guitarist with Calexico.

GREGORY PAGE(US) | jazz / song

Gregory Page has also previously performed on the Handelsbeurs stage, next to Daniel Kahn & The Painted Bird. Page's voice resembles that of Chet Baker and his beautiful music always contains a hint of melancholy without making you sad. A mixture of jazz, the music of the 20s and a certain folklore translated into 2011. Gregory works with friends such as AJ Croce and Jason Mraz.

THE PHANTOM FOUR & THE ARGUIDO

This is one of the best surf bands from the Netherlands, driven by the legendary frontman of Urban Dance Squad. Together they create their own sound that combines the rawness of eighties surf punk and new wave with a modern rock sound. The quintet plays a strong crossover between The Treble Spankers (predecessor The Phantom Four) and old school Urban Dance Squad. The music sounds as familiar as it is innovative, but is especially impressive live.
