At Kraakpandconcerten, Dirk Blanchart takes on the role of host and presenter. In an evening-long show, the groups or artists alternate randomly. They stand together in a semi-circle in the hall and the audience sits between the musicians...
WAVE | Rock, Indie, Pop
Wave started as a one-man project in the summer of 2006. Laurens Joly decided to write some of his own songs. However, he became more and more ambitious and started recording his songs on his computer. A myspace page soon followed. In 2007 he took part in Idool and in a cover competition on Studio Brussels. He went deep twice in the match. A year later he surrounded himself with musicians. The band's first demo is now available and we are already looking forward to the sequel. Wave describes his music as a cross between The Beatles, Oasis, The Doors and The Kinks.
STEAK NUMBER EIGHT | Psychedelic, Experimental, Rock
Steak Number Eight is good for a heavy dose of post-rock, inspired by bands likeIsis, Neurosis, Pelican, Red Sparowes andDeftones. 2008 was the year of breakthrough for these young lads from Wevelgem. After their victory at Westtalent 2007, they also won the main prize at Humo's Rock Rally in 2008. Shortly afterwards they released their debut album When The Candle Dies Out. They are currently writing songs for their new album, which should be released in the summer of 2009.
ELLA RAY | Soul, Pop, R&B
Ella Ray is the brand new soul project from a handful of young and enthusiastic musicians. The songs are written by Tine Jagers and beautifully arranged by the rest of the band. On their myspace you can listen to three songs that were recorded in an Antwerp basement. To say the least, they leave you wanting more. Discover Ella Ray on Kraakpand and don't lose sight of them afterwards.
THE ANAL PHASE | Dutch-language
Due to unexpected circumstances, Does & Bart was replaced by De Anal Fase. This is a small-scale Dutch project by Joeri Cnapelinckx (frontman of Kawada) and Anna Vercammen (TV and theater actress). They operate and knit between chicken cot and dovecote in a garden shed in Merchtem. At the end of 2007, De Anale Fase successfully exchanged the garden shed for the AB a few times. The Anal Phase came second in the final of the Nekka Competition. A week later they defeated the rockers of the Brussels Championship with xylophone and organ and won first prize. Their first album is called 'Exodus'. It is a playful yet melancholic picture, like a funeral procession for those who are a little broken.
