In recent years, many big names have taken the stage at the Handelsbeurs. They have one thing in common: they started small. 'Kraakpand' opens the Ha' stage once a month to promising musicians.
Zander
Zander was founded in 2001 by a number of group members of Westtalent finalist “Datsun”. The ambition was to make music that is both innovative and appeals to the general public. “Dentalis” is their first album. The remake of the 80's song 'Maniac' turned out to be a bull's eye. The single reached the playlists of Radio 1. The music can be described as "rock meets electropop" or “a sound from techno light to atmospheric post new wave”.
Jim Cole
In 2001, Jim Cole took first place in the East Flemish Rock Competition with the group “dijenik” and became a laureate of Debuutrock. Three years later he started his solo project and amazed musicians such as Peter Lesage and Axl Peleman. Thanks to his preference for soul and Beatles, the singer-songwriter is not afraid of funky beats under a melodious song. He is currently working on new songs and a new single. Supported by a close-knit soul collective, Jim Cole is a true live sensation!
The Rebelines
The Rebelines is a rock band that was founded in early 2005. They locked themselves in their rehearsal room where they worked on their first demo. This was ready just in time to meet the deadline of the West Flemish rock competition 'Westtalent'. They were selected, survived the pre-selection and the semi-finals and eventually captured third place in the final. The jury described their music as the fraternization between Franz Ferdinand, Blues Explosion and The Van Jets. The Rebelines bring rock with a crooked hook here and there.
