As a composer and pianist, Michiel De Malsche explored a very broad spectrum of music genres, ranging from punk to symphonic music. However, he had no experience with making music on the computer. Until he was asked to write electronic music for a fashion show. The audience was enthusiastic, so De Malsche continued with it. To give the computer music a finished, full sound, he gathered five musicians around him. Result: an extremely danceable and compelling mix of electro, jazz, noise, dub and pop. The four different nationalities in the group and a well-considered dose of improvisation fill every hole in the whole.

Fables of Fungus

One of the most important figures from the American music of the 20th century was Charles Mingus. This legendary double bassist played with the greatest musicians of the 1950s: Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Art Tatum and Duke Ellington. In his music you hear a raw sound and idiosyncratic melodies. She often revolves around blues and collective improvisation. Charles Mingus died in 1979, but thanks to Fables of Fungus he is more alive than ever. To develop Mingus's compositions and play them live, double bassist Fre Madou gathered together several young top musicians. The eight of them produce a tremendous burst of energy. You immediately imagine yourself in a dingy American jazz café.

SimpleSongs

100% Pure is a two-year follow-up project that gives all finalists from the various provincial pop competitions a stage opportunity. Anyone who belongs to this select club has already proven something. One of the 100% Pure devotees also failed the Squat selection. SimpleSongs is the one-man group around singer-songwriter Ken Veerman who crosses simple songs for guitar or piano with samples made on the spot, sound collages, a creaking laptop and tons of reverb. It is a very rich and full variant of the 'singersongwriter' concept. A fragile, subdued sound is alternated and combined with dramatic experiment, without SimpleSongs forgetting to bring a moving collection of campfire songs.
