The Swedes Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson together form the electronic jazz duo Koop. When they released their first full CD 'Sons of Koop' to the world in 1997, it heralded a new era in Swedish jazz. Like-minded souls such as Jazzanova and Kruder & Dorfmeisterbecame fans from the very beginning. 'Walz for Koop' was released in 2001 and a remix of this record followed two years later. In 2006, the fourth Koop member blew into record stores like an autumn leaf on a sunny winter breeze. 'Koop Island' is refreshing and warm at the same time. The record invites you to another world, “a place where music and life swing to a slightly different drum.”

Koop's music may sound like a small orchestra at work, but it is entirely based on samples. Live, however, Koop transforms into a seven- to nine-piece swing orchestra, including one or two singers. The two Koopmen themselves take care of the piano, accordion and sampler. And they wear dresses…
