Kitty, Daisy & Lewis

The very young Kitty, Daisy and Lewis Durham are really two sisters and a brother, who were encouraged to play all kinds of instruments from a very young age. They made waves in 2008 with their self-titled debut album with a fresh mix of blues, R&B, rockabilly, rock & roll, and 50's and 60's country. This record, largely covers, attracted the attention of Jools Holland, Razorlight, Mika, Billy Bragg and Coldplay: Kitty, Daisy & Lewis went on tour with each of them.

The trio's second CD, Smoking In Heaven, has just been released, with self-composed songs, although one would swear that most of the songs are at least fifty years old. The fact that they recorded in their own sound studio with only vintage recording equipment explains the special warmth of their sound.

Live they are accompanied on double bass by ex-Raincoats drummer Ingrid Weiss (or Mon Kitty, Daisy & Lewis), Daddy Grazz on acoustic guitar and legendary Jamaican trumpeter Eddie 'Tan Tan' Thornton. Glastonbury, Rock Am Ring, Primavera, Lowlands and Blues Peer are already on the list of completed festivals. Practice your dance moves with classics such as 'Mean Son of a Gun' and 'Going Up The Country'. Singing along, snapping fingers, swinging and boogieing is inevitable.

That the three 'it ' have, as evidenced by 'Paan Man Boogie' (actually boogieing), the long Hammond outro of 'Baby Don't You Know' (aiming straight for the diaphragm) and the sunny/wandering ska of 'I'm So Sorry' and 'Tomorrow', which takes you straight to the dusty shanty towns of Kingston. Humo

The underground fans agree: it's time for the general public to see Gemma Ray gets to know. Since 2008, she has released four albums on the Bronzerat Records label, which was founded especially for her. Ray's repertoire is characterized by an eclectic combination of styles of soul, blues, folk and pop: she does it all.

Since her most recent album 'It's A Shame About Gemma Ray' (a cover album from 2010) Gemma released the EP 'Runaway'.
