Jolie Holland

The Texan Jolie Holland is a musical jack-of-all-trades. She mastered the piano, violin, guitar, accordion and ukulele on her own. With her warm country voice she brings a mix of blues, jazz and country. She is guided by music icons from previous generations such as Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Willie McTell and Billie Holiday. Jolie Holland was also behind The Be Good Tanyas. In 2003 she released an overwhelming debut album, 'Catalpa'. MOJO described it as “a recording of unaffected grace and beauty... timeless stuff, filled with the things that make life a tearful and wholly satisfying experience.” Her latest studio album, 'the Living and the Dead', was released in October 2008 and is her most revealing and lavish work to date.

At the beginning of 2008, Sam Amidon's latest album 'All is well' was released. It is a collection of unique songs in the genre in which he excels: intuitive interpretations of old folk songs. He developed his exceptional talent in his youth, as a child of folk musicians. But his later collaboration with the experimental indie rock bands Doveman and Stars Like Fleas also had a major impact on his work.
