John Hammond is the son of legendary talent hunter John Hammond Sr., who discovered Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, among others. But he became best known as one of the few white blues musicians who stood on the barricades of the blues renaissance in the 1960s. To this day he has an important hand in keeping old blues songs alive. John Hammond carries the weight of the genre with great naturalness. His powerful guitar and harmonica playing and expressive, deep dark voice do the blues justice. John Hammond is inspired by Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed and John Lee Hooker. His latest album 'Push Comes To Shove' was released in early 2007, which for the first time also contained songs he wrote himself. According to producer G Love, it is a typical John Hammond record: “It's raw, it's dirty, it's blues, but it still has a funky edge to it.”
