James Taylor Orchestra

James Taylor, the legendary Hammond player, founded the James Taylor Quartet in 1985. It is synonymous with classic Acid Jazz and plays with genres such as jazz, funk, soul, rock and even rap. By making every concert an explosive event, the band has built up a strong live reputation over the years.

Moreover, it achieved more and more success thanks to film music that they both wrote themselves and covered inimitably. After forming in 1985, the foursome achieved immediate success with the release of "Blow Up", which topped the indie charts for 13 weeks. It was a funky version of Herbie Hancock's music for the film of the same name. In 1987, "Mission Impossible", the quartet's first album, was released. On this album they laid the foundation for what would become their characteristic sound: “funked-up, sleazed-down, keyboard-driven jazz.”

The concerts of the James Taylor Quartet are a must. They emphasize live "dance" music, which immediately explains their success. The quartet has been around for 20 years now. To celebrate this, 14 musicians are thrown into battle. Forget the Quartet, here's the Orchestra!
