Istanbul Geceleri - Istanbul Fasil Ensemble

This concert will take place at De Centrale: Kraankindersstraat 2 in Ghent.

This opening night is just a taste of what's to come during the rest of the festival. The rest of the program will be launched on September 10.

Music, mezze & rakı

During a fasıl evening, you can enjoy traditional Turkish snacks, such as mezze, alongside rakı, a Turkish aniseed drink. During the Ottoman period, this light classical music resounded in palaces and elegant homes. Today, fasıl is mainly heard in Istanbul restaurants because it is not complete without a table full of food and drink.

The Istanbul Fasıl Ensemble performs Turkish classical music and fasıl, bringing the atmosphere of Istanbul nights to Ghent. Expect an evening full of Turkish hospitality, ambiance, a darbouka show, and oriental dance.
