ITRÎ & BACH
When two worlds meet, amazing things happen. This definitely applies to the project Itrî & Bach. Two composers from the 18th century take centre stage: one a grandmaster of Turkish classical music, the other a monument of Western culture.
Itrî & Bach is a salute to Buhurizade Mustafa Itrî (1640-1712) and Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Itrî, an Ottoman-Turkish composer, created over a thousand pieces, but only forty of these have stood the test of time. An absolute must-see for anyone who’s fascinated by cross-cultural escapades and refined music!
Ertan Tekin (mey & duduk), Murat Aydemir (tanbur) & Ediz Sekercioglu (cello) & Onur Senler (cello)
This concert is a part of Istanbul Ekspres – a festival celebrating Turkish culture, staged in collaboration with De Centrale. It also features in Foyer Matinee, a series of aperitif concerts taking place on the third Sunday of each month during the flower market.
