This concert takes place in De Centrale
Every year, Istanbul Ekspres celebrates a cheerful and intense party with Turkish music in Ghent . This eleventh edition also promises to be special. Under the special circumstances, the Centrale and the Handelsbeurs present a compact program, but no less filled with Turkish cordiality and strongly spiced melodies that make the heart sing.
MAKAS< /p>
After various musical projects, bağlama player Şahin started a new group in 2012. MAKAS brings Anatolian compositions and melodies in their own style, also known as progressive or psychedelic rock. They call it 'Anatolian rock' because they work with traditional folk songs from Anatolia . Different (than Western) beats and scales are used.
When listening to the band you notice that there are many influences from Barış Manço, Cem Karaca, Erkin Koray, Üç Hürel and Moǧollar (icons of Anatolian rock in Turkey in the 70s and 80s).
