Guitarist and resident artist Haroun Iqbal spent three years immersing himself in North Indian classical music, taking lessons from sarod player Asad Qizilbash and studying in India under Shubhendra Rao, a protégé of Ravi Shankar. With his band Iqnovara, he presents their second album, *O Innocent Heart*, released by W.E.R.F. Records.
The album explores the intersections between jazz and North Indian traditions, with room for raga structures, improvisation and composition. For this release concert, the band will be joined exceptionally by his mentor Asad Qizilbash, the only sarod player from Pakistan, who once played for Nelson Mandela and has a flawless command of this nine-stringed, melancholic instrument.
