FAUSTO ROMITELLI: AN INDEX OF METALS

Transmission is the code word for this concert, the fruit of two years of intensive exchange between Ictus soloists and the crème de la crème of a younger generation of musicians. They ask themselves where they can go today with their 19th century instruments. Ictus wants to pass on to them the repertoire that has been in the ensemble's blood over the past 20 years. Above all, the ambition is to infect a fresh batch of master students with energy, commitment and enjoyment of playing that in turn move the audience. Romitelli's video opera An Index, already a classic of this century, is an unforgiving journey through hell into the essence of sound through its many dislocated guises. In this concert we hear An Index in its entirety in a concert performance.
