Ictus: Blind Date #2

ENSMBLE ZKT PUBLK ZNDR VOOR-OOR-DLN

Handelsbeurs Concertzaal and Ictus invite you for a musical blind date for the second time. A relief in times of overinformation: listen to new and less new music without prejudice, without knowing who, what or when. Old music sounds fresh off the press, new music reveals familiar colors. One is in danger of falling in love with what one generally finds terrible and vice versa. The audience can test their listening experience against the findings of a virtual panel: Stefan Prins (from Harvard), François Sarhan (Berlin) and Matthew Shlomowitz (London). In the comfort of their own home, they listen to the streamed concert and respond to what they hear via Skype. No theoretical analyses, but authentic reactions, pertinent observations and remarkable associations. After the concert, artistic director Tom Pauwels and new director of Ictus Willem Hering will unveil the program. They respond to the observations, the boos, and the cries of surprise uttered by the panel and audience. Blind Date guarantees listening with keen ears, fascinating disagreements, music-historical confusions and plenty of fodder for discussion.
