Hanne Hukkelberg / Under Byen

Hanne Hukkelberg

Has only just completed a good run during the Brussels Fairies and is already back on Belgian soil. Hukkelberg does not force herself into a strict straitjacket: she likes different genres and does not focus on one style. Over the past two years, she has often been spotted on her bicycle in Oslo, looking for sounds and samples, which she now weaves into her soundboard. On tour she always takes six musicians in tow, with all kinds of instruments in tow. The obligatory drum, guitar and bass are present, but the glockenspiel, banjo, accordion and a bicycle wheel also serve in her set. Like a Northern ice queen, Hanne directs the stage. And the corridors whisper that she even dares to bring Nirvana back to life on stage. “We are confident that Hanne Hukkelberg will make an even greater impression at the end of November, when she visits several Belgian theaters,” wrote Dirk Steenhaut in de Morgen. It's up to you to judge.

Under Byen

Under Byen is one of the most exciting musical experiences that Denmark offers today. Under Byen follows the path of Icelandic groups such as Sigur Ros and Múm, but manages to produce an unmistakably unique sound within that atmospheric genre. The voice of the graceful singer Henriëtte Sennenvaldt certainly plays a leading role in this. Sometimes fragile, sometimes powerful, but invariably intoxicating, it sounds against the background of violin, drums, guitar, piano, organ, cello and sometimes even a saw. The band is especially convincing live. The eight-member company is currently working hard on their third album, which will follow up their much-loved Det Er Mig Der Holder Træerne Sammen. For a moment, however, they want to stop their hard work to give a preview of the new songs at the Handelsbeurs.
