Handelsbeurs Live further developed into the shared Ghent livestream platformSound of Ghent

Belgian jazz blood at Handelsbeurs Live

“Tomorrow belongs to those who hear it coming,” these are prophetic words from David Bowie. The Handelsbeurs takes this to heart and will focus on musicians and bands in the coming season who will bring a fresh look to the future (read more).

As a prelude and much-needed injection of music in corona times the jazz quartet Yskan has a pre-release of its album on the new livestream platform Handelsbeurs Live. Due to COVID-19, the actual release will be moved to the autumn.

  • Handelsbeurs Live? How does that work?

Yskan

Yskan is new and unknown as a band, but its members ring many happy bells. The combination of Geert Hendrickx (Zandland), Anneleen Boehme (LABtrio) and Simon Raman (Steiger) is not strange to many. Add to that Sam Comerford (Thunderblender) and you know that something very special is in store.

Yskan stems from GIZMO, a band that made itself known for its talent and collaborations with established names. Chris Cheek and Ben Sluijs. Now Hendrickx is taking a new path. Free and exploratory play full of contrasts is paramount.

After the recording of their album in the Academy Hall of Sint-Truiden, a double scoop follows: their pre-album release and the very first  live ghost concert on the online concert platform Handelsbeurs Live.
