Grijze Cellen: Overal Beestjes

Gray Cells: bugs everywhere!

The millions of bacteria that we carry with us influence all kinds of processes in our body. Some make us sick, some make us better, some are useful for digestion while other types are essential for vitamin production. At the same time, the absence of certain bacteria can increase the risk of diabetes, intestinal inflammation, allergies and asthma. Bart Lambrecht (VIB and UGent, Francqui Prize 2014) gives a lecture on the usefulness and necessity of bacteria for our body and Herman Goossens (UAntwerp) zooms in on research into the growing danger of antibiotic resistance. Then Jop de Vrieze (science journalist and author of Allemaal Beestjes) will talk to them.
