Graindelavoix: Muntagna Nera

Led by Björn Schmelzer, the collective Graindelavoix became known for adventurous and unconventional recordings and concerts with polyphonic music. The group is fascinated by Mediterranean music styles, especially Southern Italian. But they don't always have to look for it on the spot. Music traditions are like floating islands that break away from the motherland, enclaves with a idiosyncratic, unpredictable destination.

Who doesn't remember the famous Italo-Belgian music club Muntagna Nera? The group of Genk's migrant sons and daughters performed heartbreaking life songs for Western Europe's most renowned halls. Muntagna Nera put the Limburg 'coal-mine blues' on the world map. Then it became quiet around the group... Thirty years later, Björn Schmelzer persuades the forgotten stars of the past to take the stage again, together with the voices and strings of Graindelavoix.

Host is Filip Jordens (Marie's Bath, Hommage à Brel) who, together with the musicians of Graindelavoix, takes you to a closed world full of southern nostalgia.
