Gong Linna is China's vocal rising star. After classical training at the Chinese Conservatory in Beijing, she quickly managed to master the most diverse genres. In her native country she attracted attention with a daring mix of raw and refined, Eastern and Western, gradually exchanging the pop element in her music for more influence from tradition. Whatever she sings, Linna retains her local color, which ranges from beautiful southern Chinese folklore to influences of classical court music and Beijing opera. The link with tradition is also evident from Linna's lyrics: she not only sings her own songs and contemporary poetry, but also classical Chinese poems.
