FANS OF ALT-J, MASSIVE ATTACK AND WILD BEASTS
Three years ago, medical student Dave Bayley tinkered with Glass Animals' first songs. The result was a beautiful pile of ambient electronica that he baptized Golden Antlers, somewhere in a world between Anthony & The Johnsons en James Blake thrown.
The first real single blossomed in the late spring of 2012 and a year later the band signed with Paul Epworth's Wolf Tone label. Epworth (Adele, Bloc Party, Florence + The Machine) was behind the buttons for ZABA, the debut album by Glass Animals, which would also become one of the strongest debuts of 2014. ZABA takes you to a wilderness full of Kanye Wests, Nina Simones and the Velvet Undergrounds. Songs like 'Flip', 'Pools' and 'Gooey' fulfill their role as guide with verve.
Clash Magazine and NME agree when they have 8 full points left for the record. The Line Of Best Fit even gives them a 9 out of 10 as "one of the strongest debut albums of the year". They opened for St.Vincent in early 2014 and a few months later provided a sold-out Ancienne Belgique. You can watch that performance here by the way review in its entirety.
