When you think of West Flanders and music, you think of Flip Kowlier. He better cherish his place of honor at the top of the West Flemish music firmament. Young lions like Gèsman are eager to follow in his footsteps and walk past them.

Gèsman is a collective of seven men who strongly agree that the world can explode. That is also the title of their new record, “Omplof!”, which they want to present to the Ghent public at the Handelsbeurs. But this is anything but gloomy doom-mongering music. Songs with a tragic undertone are set to cheerful tunes, rough lyrics are given a catchy riff… Gèsman creates wonderful contradictions in his songs and it works.

For this new record, the group received help from producer Reinhard Vanbergen (Das Pop), from musicians such as Wim Opbrouck and Isolde Lasoen< /strong> and from a classical string quartet.
