Line-up: Gerardo Nuñez: guitar, Pablo Martin: double bass, Cepillo: percussion
Gerardo Nuñez, guitar virtuoso from Jerez de la Frontera, is a rising star flamenco firmament. In 2004 he won the sixth Demófilo prize for Flamenco art in Seville because he had given the best flamenco concert at the Seville Biennale of the same year. Gerardo Nuñez effortlessly follows in the footsteps of greats such as Paco De Lucia. Nuñez is not a purist in his guitar playing. He is not afraid to enrich the traditional genre with diverse music genres. As a young boy in Cadiz he often listened to Latin music, influences that can often be heard in his repertoire. He also dares to weave a light touch of jazz into flamenco. As a result, he delivers stunningly rich and complex guitar playing, without sacrificing the power of flamenco. Tonight he will be on our stage in a trio setting, together with Juan Martin on double bass and Cepillo on percussion.
