The 'Gentse Zangstonde' with Wim Claeys (vocals, accordion) and Valentijn Van Baelen is for everyone who would like to get acquainted with 'Ghent songs'. The songs are learned by the musicians during the singing session in order to get everyone singing along at the top of their lungs. Following in the footsteps of Walter De Buck, the Ghent Songstands are a permanent ingredient of the Ghent Festivities. Wim Claeys now also organizes them at the end of each month during the year, each time at a different location in Ghent.
On Sunday, June 30 at 11 a.m., he and his companion will stop in the foyer of the Handelsbeurs. The repertoire includes street songs, sing-alongs, revue songs, folk songs, Walter De Buck, and of course the 'Gentschen Béranger' Karel Waeri. For the occasion, the Zangtonde youth orchestra will also be introduced, which will accompany a few songs.
Text and translation are available in the now well-known free songbooks.< /p>
For enthusiasts there are also kroakemandels on Sunday, “caviar for the working man”.
The bar remains open continuously.
