The Belgian public was introduced to cellist Gavriel Lipkind in 2007, when he received great acclaim with his recording of the Bach suites. Lipkind's technical flexibility and balanced expressiveness are unparalleled. He was born in 1977 and had completed the highest professional music education in Israel by the age of eleven. After a busy concert life, he took a sabbatical of many years. The myth about the musician who lived in seclusion in the hills around Frankfurt and played only Bach eventually made it into the press. In this program Lipkind opts for drama and charge with Brahms and Britten, for melancholy with the sonata opus 102 that Beethoven composed just before he became deaf, and for charm and spirit with Stravinsky's Suite Italienne. This Suite is an arrangement of several movements from Stravinsky's ballet 'Pulcinella'. Lipkind's regular recital partner is pianist Roman Zaslavsky. He is praised by the press and the public for his intelligent and passionate interpretations.
