Galactic AFGELAST

In 1994, jazz and funk band Galactic emerged from the fertile music fields of New Orleans. The five-piece instrumental group developed a characteristic style in the tradition of The Meters, The JB's and Booker T. & the MG's – bands that also work with their own music and with guest vocalists. Over the years, Galactic's music evolved from organic New Orleans funk to a more contemporary mix of hip hop, electronica, fusion and jazz. The band often collaborates with guest musicians such as the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Neville Brothers and Brian Seeger.

With the release of their sixth album 'From the Corner to the Block', the Galactic confirms its reputation as one of the funkiest formations of the moment. 'From the Corner to the Block', a funk record with hip hop vocalists, grew from the experience the group gained on tours with artists such as Roots, Jurassic 5, Triple Threat DJs and Gift of Gab. With exciting rhythms, instrumental ingenuity, compelling melody lines and wild guitar solos, Galactic is the funk must par excellence.

In 2002, planet Marvelas was created after a clash between five Ghent jazz/rock musicians and two Bruges rappers. Members of Marvelas fills a gaping hole in the Belgian music market with their cross between seventies funk/rock and old school hip hop. In April 2006 the debut of the same name 'Members of Marvelas' was proudly presented. The press is full of praise: De Morgen writes: “Live, Members of Marvelas is an exciting and accurate club that hands out one auditory uppercut after another. A promising septet that we will hear from again!”

2008 brings a new creation. 'The Tuxedo Theory' is a lot more adventurous and personal than its predecessor. Based on the experiment, a landscape is created in which everyone finds their place again. Respect your own taste and combine it with that of others. Think the quirkiness of Zappa with a tight Roots Manuva groove and the energy of 'Beastie Boys'. Order in the chaos, but with a lot of love for the chaos!
