Pianist Frank Braley is a familiar face at the Handelsbeurs. A scientist has been lost to him, but we are happy that he chose music. This time he is accompanied by Eric Le Sage for a program around two pianos and quatre mains. There is no better match to play Schumann. Le Sage is internationally recognized as one of the most important pianists of his generation, with a rare musicality. He is also known as an excellent interpreter of Schumann's piano music. For example, his complete performance of Schumann's piano music and chamber music was published. The program also includes Mozart's ravishing but intense Sonata KV 448 and Schumann's tender Variations on a Theme Opus 23, which Brahms did not compose with the intention of ever being published. He probably only wanted to see them performed at meetings among friends, as a reminder of the man who had been such a great source of inspiration.
