Foyer Soiree: Winterreise

Tribute to Schubert   

In this Foyer Soiree, two rock musicians take up the challenge of one of the masterworks of
classical song. 

On the basis of a common passion, the accordionist Adriano Cominotto and
singer Pieter-Jan De Smet present their own version of the very darkest of Schubert’s song
cycles.

Winterreise

Winterreise is a moving and melancholy journey. Were Schubert and poet Wilhelm Müller
the singer-songwriters of their day? 

De Smet and Cominotto explore the potential of the composition while showing great respect for the original score and its lyrical-poetic qualities. Using the poor man’s piano and a non-classical voice, they shed new light on this work from the classical repertoire.
