Flat Earth Society: 'Answer Songs'

Songs that respond to an existing song. For Flat Earth Society, twelve 'answer songs' were provided with lyrics and music by Gerda Dendooven, Rokus Hofstede, Jef Neve, Corrie van Binsbergen, Peter Vandenberghe, Bruno Vansina, Peter Verhelst, Peter Vermeersch, Wim Willaert and Tom Wouters. Esther Lybeert is the lead singer, but other voices are also heard.

A longlist was drawn up of songs that for one reason or another are amenable to an answer. Style, language or age played no role. The lyrics were usually decisive, but instrumental songs were also eligible. How literally or subtly the new song referred to the original was up to you, the new composition did not even have to be in the same style. You can hear the surprising result in the Handelsbeurs.
