Ellis Wu Duo & Quatuor MP4

The Ghent Orpheus Institute focuses on the perfection of young, promising musicians in the 'Chamber Music' seminar. Two ensembles from this 'breeding pond' for young talent show their skills in this double concert. Benjamin Britten's best-known arrangement of a Purcell theme is probably his 'Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra'. But Britten honored his 17th-century predecessor in much more detail with no fewer than 47 song arrangements. Taiwanese soprano Chia-Fen Wu and British pianist Genevieve Ellis, both of whom have flourishing careers in opera and song, perform a selection from these brilliant arrangements. The young Quatuor MP4 consists of four string players who trained at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Liège. This quartet is committed to winning an audience for new and unknown music in addition to the classical repertoire. Both ensembles join forces in the chamber music piece that closes the evening.
