De Kift has roots in the punk waves of the eighties. This boisterous gang has found its great strength in the beauty of literary texts. Dutch poetry is interwoven with wild music. The success of De Kift is driven by the same phenomenon as that of, say, El Tattoo Del Tigre and DJ Shantel: the unstoppable revival of Eastern European gypsy and fanfare music! De Kift makes the words and sentences dance with exuberant horns and wild guitars. The band has discovered a gaping hole in the music market and jumped into it headfirst.
