Their last album ‘Wirklich Welt So’ and their collaborations with Ernst Reijseger, Louis Sclavis and Portuguese trumpeter Susana Santos Silva jump-started the career and music of De Beren Gieren. Fulco Ottervanger’s compositions balance between lyrical confessions and improvisations. His inventive melodies fully come to fruition in the hands of his companions Lieven Van Pee (double bass) and Simon Segers (drums), taking the audience along on a fantastic musical journey. Their new album ‘A Raveling’ raises the expectations of their live show even more.

TOO NOISY FISH: ‘FIGHT EAT SLEEP’

Created in the wings of Flat Earth Society, Too Noisy Fish brings together the rhythm section of Flanders’ most headstrong big band. Pianist Peter Vandenberghe writes smart, funny tunes that perfectly match with double bass player Kristof Roseeuw’s and drummer Teun Verbruggen’s playful style. A hint of a melody is enough to keep you spellbound, and the trio isn’t afraid to adapt works by Charlie Parker and Beethoven to create their own compositions. Their recent string of live concerts following the release of ‘Fight Eat Sleep’ (recorded in San Francisco and produced by Oz Fritz) was very promising. Newspaper De Standaard gave the concert a rating of four out of five. Can’t wait!
