David Fray

David Fray was fourteen when he won a competition for young talent. That same year he plays his first concerto with a symphony orchestra. The French pianist has received, among other things, a Jeune Soliste de l'Année prize from the French radio stations and a Révélations Classiques. He attracted attention again when, at the age of twenty-six, he made a striking and internationally celebrated recording of work by Bach and Boulez. Fray says he feels closely connected to the German repertoire and in particular to Bach, which he describes as “the beginning and the end”. Music documentary maker Bruno Monsaingeon even devotes a documentary, 'Sing, Swing and Think', to Fray's fascination with Bach. The film shows us a passionate virtuoso who, with his spontaneity and vision, drags the musicians into dazzling renditions of three concertos.
