Joseph Haydn’s late piano trios are so rich and diverse that there is something for everyone. Anner Bylsma’s historic recording made us fall in love with trios no. 43 and 44. In search of a contemporary equivalent we arrived at Cecilia Bernardini. This Dutch-Italian violinist with a passion for classical repertoire is accompanied by cellist Gideon den Herder and pianist Keiko Shichijo.

Besides Beethoven’s second piano trio they will also play music by Haydn’s pupil Ignace Pleyel. He was the celebrated composer of 41 symphonies, 70 string quartets and stacks of chamber music. Later, unfortunately, his compositions were rather forgotten. With their own Sturm und Drang these three young musicians will undoubtedly breathe new life into his music.
