BOOMTOWN POSTER COMPLETE
With Adam Green (US), Joe Gideon & The Shark (UK), The Go Find, Sukilove, Balthazar, Boston Tea Party , Tape Tum, Tommigun, Liesa Van Der Aa and Arquettes, the beautiful bill of BOOMTOWN is complete. The countdown to July 20 - the start of the festival - has now officially begun!
Boomtown, the pop and rock festival within the Ghent Festivities, is going all out this year to explore musical depth. and internationalization. The last names announced by the festival also fit perfectly within that picture.
Strong international fare
Adam Green started his musical career together with Kimya Dawson in the band, among others. The Moldy Peaches. However, he has been doing it solo since 2002 and has released 4 full albums, which were well received by the press. His music is classified as indie-pop or anti-folk, often with a socially critical edge. Curious what that will bring to Boomtown. We read about Harum Scarum, the debut of the London brother-sister couple Joe Gideon & The Shark (Gideon Joe Seifert and Viva Seifert) in Humo: “... the garage blues and beautified Americana of Joe Gideon & The Shark has more in common with Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, the American brother-sister couple The Fiery Furnaces and the storytelling of Tom Waits or Lou Reed then with the hard garage rock of the Stripes. But - and let it be said by a WS fan - 'Harum Scarum' is hardly inferior to the best of Meg & Jack! Very expensive, so.” Need we say more!
Home-grown crème de la crème
The list of national names is also more than enough. Or what about the ear-pleasing electronic pop of The Go Find, the inventive pop-rock of Sukilove, the heavy noise pop of Boston Tea Party or the indie rock of Arquettes? And then we are silent - or not - about Tape Tum, the eclectic electronics project of the Dousselaere brothers, the alternative pop music of the Belgian promise Balthazar, the equally fragile and flammable songs of Tommigun or the simultaneously sweet and dramatic violin-pop by Liesa Van Der Aa. So there's something for everyone at Boomtown 2010, and that's how it should be!
Outdoor: free, indoor: 2 drinks per concert
During the Genste Feesten, Boomtown will provide will first take place indoors and outdoors simultaneously for 5 days – from July 20 to 24.
