Hearing the name Bob Mold brings a smile to many guitar fanatics. They proudly call him 'the godfather of grunge'. And rightly so, because with Hüsker Dü he paved the way for the Pixies, Nirvana and co. A decade later, Mold further strengthened his cult status with his band Sugar. But suddenly he got tired of the guitar. In the late 1990s, Mold put the instrument aside after 20 years and focused on electronics. As a solo artist he released two albums, steeped in experiment. His third album was going to be an acoustic one, but when Mold listened to the end result, he missed something. And yes, he slung his trusty guitar around his shoulder again and managed to unite his two loves, rock and electronica. He called the record 'Body Of Song' and it has become a personal, introspective CD that, above all, radiates hope. Bob Mold will enter the Handelsbeurs stage solo tonight and, in addition to songs from 'Body Of Song', will also treat his fans with songs from Hüsker Dü and Sugar.
